THE LION AND THE MOUSE
One day, a lion was sleeping in the forest. A shy Mouse accidentally came upon the Lion. When she saw the Lion, the Mouse was so scared, she ran right across the Lion’s nose. The Lion woke up suddenly .
Angrily, he put his huge paw on the Mouse.
The poor Mouse begged, “ Please let me go.
Don’t kill me and some day I will repay your kindness!” The Lion laughed. How could a Mouse ever help a Lion? But he let the Mouse go.
Some days later, the Lion got caught in a hunter’s net. His angry roars filled the forest. The Mouse heard the Lion. She ran to the Lion and bit through the net with her teeth. In this way, the Mouse set the Lion free. “ Now you know: even a tiny Mouse can help a Lion,” she said.
