Threatened tribes

Movie star Julie Christie and NGO Survival International, both from England, have just launched a campaign to save from extinction tribes that do not have contact with civilization. The central part is a documentary narrated by her, on some of the most ancient and threatened tribes of the world. “Over 100 tribes in the world keep refusing any contact. They are among the most vulnerable people on Earth and can be devastated in the next 20 years, unless their rights to land are recognized and defended”, declared Julie to Survival. “The world is certainly big enough for everyone, including those whose lifestyle is different from ours.” According to Survival, there are tribes in Brazil today with only two or three survivors. The other members died in the hands of cattle raisers or due to diseases transmitted by white people.
