Human Relations for Career and Personal Success Being able to work well with people from other cultures, both outside and inside your own country is important for careers success. When we meet other people whose cultural assumptions differ from those we have learned implicitly, we usually do not recognize their behaviour as cultural in origin. Culture and its dialogue are not an element more constitutive of human societies.
Certain underlying factors create problems in developing smooth cross-cultural relations, including communication problems. Ethnocentrism leads to misunderstandings. Paying attention to intergroup factors rather than individual factors leads to problems. Religious practices are also noteworthy.
Understanding and appreciating intercultural differences promotes clearer communication, breaks down barriers, builds trust, strengthens relationships, opens horizons and yields tangible results in terms of business and personal success.
